I landed yesterday on Monday in Cedar Rapids Iowa. The college town where I spoke is named Cedar Falls. I inquired about the cedar business. I was told it is named after Cedar River. But why is Cedar River called Cedar river when there are no cedars in sight? I was told that there was one. My theory is that the people in northern Iowa mistook a Hummus tree for a Cedar tree. They should stand corrected.
