When Muhammad Hasanayn Haykal heard and read about the attacks of Sep. 11, he insisted that it was the work of Serbian nationalists. Arabs can't pull something like that through, he would insist (don't blame him. He worked for the incompetent regime of Nasser.) But I will not mention this again if you stop talking on Aljazeera. Enough already. I am willing to buy a cheap watch if you promise to retire. Somebody who visited Haykal in Cairo told me that his servants bring him computer printouts (or documents--for Haykal, everything is a "document" including a page from People magazine. That makes it more authoritative) on silver trays.
