What am I? A fact checker for the correspondents of the New York Times and Washington Post? Look at this dispatch by Edward Cody (which contains a fawning praise for the Gemayyel family). I will summarize thrust of the article for you. It basically laments the demographic decline of the advanced, Westernized Christians, and expresses outrage at the high fertility rates of the backward and savage Shi`ites. Cody also said: "Amin al-Gemayel's father, Pierre, was a pharmacist who became a leader of the independence movement." What? Pierre Gemayyel was opposed to Lebanon's independence and was in fact in favor of continued French colonization over Lebanon. Yes, he tried to rescue his reputation days before the so-called independence movement. But a leader of it? Are you kidding me? In the article, Duri Sham`un shares his vision for Lebanon: sectarian cantons.
