Michael Young, the social scientist: Anecdotes versus data. Michael Young assures Israel that while public opinion polls in Lebanon indicate that support for Hizbullah is strong, his "anecdotal evidence" is contrary. He talked to his neo-conservative friends, and would like to report to you that the results of public opinion polls should be dismissed: "These results are simply not borne out by facts on the ground. Anecdotally, while there may be hostility to Israel in many quarters, there is no noticeable backing among Christians, Sunni Muslims, or Druze for what Hezbollah has done." Tell me more anecdotes, o Michael Young. They are most fascinating and interesting. They are in fact as interesting as a statement made by Rice the other day. Can we have a collection of your anecdotes, o Michael Young. Thanks.
