In Search of Good and Decent Muslims: can you jump? Just as Fox News specializes in finding pro-Bush African-Americans, as unrepresentative as they are, and promoting them, LBC-TV (and An-Nahar) specializes in finding and promoting those Muslims who despise mass "dirty" Muslims. These are the Muslims who support Samir Ja`ja` and who like the Cedars of Lebanon more than Sa`id `Aql. So An-Nahar had an article the other day by a Lebanese Shi`ite professor at Lebanese University, Muna Fayyad. She basically talked down to Shi`ites instructing them on how to become better and more acceptable Shi`ites--she all but told them to emulate "those superior Christians." So LBC-TV, of course, loved that. So they invited her the next day to Kalam An-Nas (widely watched, sectarian, right-wing show on the sectarian Christian, right-wing station) and read, actually read, excerpts from her article on the air. But the trends of Shi`ite public opinion--the anecdotal assertions of Michael Husayn Young notwithstanding--became clear when she began her talk on the show by "paying tribute to the courage of the resistance fighters in the South" and said that the resistance "should be a model" for other Arabs, and praised the "wisdom" of Hizbullah leadership. Mark my words. MEMRI will translate her article from An-Nahar but will not translate her full intervention on LBC-TV. It must be very embarrassing for Zionists that most of their Arab allies--the Arab neo-conservatives--are actually rabid anti-Semites (take Anwar Sadat, Anis Mansur, the Maronite Patriarchate, etc). So Muna Fayyad said that the Israeli war crimes led her to believe that what "they did to us is worse than what the Nazis did to them," thus she unfairly held all Jews responsible for the crimes of the state of Israel. I bet that her anti-Semitic words will be edited out by MEMRI.
