In 2000, when Israel was forced to humiliatingly leave South Lebanon, its army of surrogates, South Lebanon Army, had to flee for their lives. Some were protected by the Maronite Patriarch. Antoine Lahd, the head of SLA, later opened a Lebanese restaurant, Byblos, in Israel. He is now dubbed General Hummus in the Israeli press. I predict that there will come a time when Sa`d Hariri, Walid Jumblat, and others in their "movement" will also flee Lebanon. They will probably open Lebanese restaurants in Paris, France. I would love to be able to say this one day: "One Falafil sandwich to go, o feudal warlord, Walid Jumblat. Extra taratur, please." (Taratur is a zesty sauce made of lemon juice, tahini, and garlic).
