Regarding my critique of the Nation, a friendly source in the Nation magazine sent me a message that included this: "your comments have caused the magazine to go into an existential flurry. Katrina vanden Heuvel, the editor, apparently sent...a letter about your "deranged" post. Both the contributing writer in my office and...himself kept mentioning your name, which I found amusing because I read your blog consistently and am mostly unsurprised with what you post on your blog. The consensus seemed to be that you were a fucked up guy, a Juan Cole on phenobarbitol (Juan Cole is fawned over by The Nation if you didn't already know)..."
