People are wondering about the stance of the Syrian regime (the Syrian people have been most supportive and hospitable toward Lebanese refugees despite the racist anti-Syrian Lebanonese festivities over the last two years). But you forgot the "strategic" doctrine of Hafidh Al-Asad. His doctrine is that "Syria selects the time AND place" of the battle with Israel. The Syrian regime is now looking at a place in India as a possibility. The time? A century or two. Why the rush. But the Syrian Minister of Information said that if Israeli troops get close to Syria, they would not "sit with crossed hand." Crossed legs, maybe, but not crossed-hands.
