My frandfather's house in Tyre. This is my grandfather's house in Tyre--or what is left of it as the section to the left is completely eliminated. I took this picture a year ago exactly. It is one of the oldest houses in Tyre, and it is in the port area, and has the best view of the city, in my opinion. My paternal grandfather, Muhammad As`ad AbuKhalil, was deeply rooted in the city (and the region), and was a mayor of the city in the 1930s. With every Israeli invasion, this house (now uninhabited) suffers more damage and destruction from Israeli bombings: especially in the Israeli invasions of 1978 and 1982. I read that Israel has devastated Tyre in recent days. I wonder what remains of this house.
