Is Zidane a good Muslim or a bad Muslim? I am confused. Help me out, please. I don't watch sports, and did not follow the World Cup--I asked my brother even about the look and design of the new football. I have not seen that before. But I was curious about the last game--I wanted France to lose. I wanted Chirac to be there when Frances loses. I would see glimpses of the game back and forth while watching something else in my hotel in London. And then I saw Zidane butt-heading Chirac. I did not expect that. Also, the days before the game, I read so many articles in UK newspapers, and in some Arab neo-conservative publications with headlines as "Why can't Arabs be like Zidane." I assumed that they meant like Zidane in that he defines himself as "non-practicing Muslim." So basically, Westerners want Muslim to not practice their faith, and that would make them ok. But what about the butt-heading? Would that change things? And is butt-heading terrorism if perpetrated by a Muslim, even a non-practicing one? Did you notice that the White House statement today referred to the attack on Israeli soldiers in South Lebanon as "terrorism"? And Al-Arabiyya TV interviewed in one report two Lebanese who just happened to be opposed to the attack by Hizbullah because of the "brothel tourism" of Lebanon. One of them in fact mentioned that rich "Gulf Arabs" are fleeing Lebanon. Oh, no. Sex tourism is the basis of the Hariri-designed economy of Lebanon. Al-Arabiyya, unlike other Arab stations, could not find one Lebanese who expressed sympathy for the attack on Israeli occupation troops. Even Washington Post found one. Come on. And why Zidane is supposed to be a "role model"? And for whom? I hate the expression "role model." Like, is Satan a good or bad role model?
