Amal had to leave her house in Beirut to sit for an interview with CNN. She wrote this letter (I have her permission to reproduce) to a producter at CNN:

"Dear Mr. Schuster,

I saw the documentary you produced on Hizbullah, entitled "Inside Hezbollah", this morning. And I have to say that I am outraged.

Your documentary was the crudest form of pro-Israeli, Islamophobic propaganda I have seen in a long time. It did not even make any pretenses at objectivity, by for example giving a voice to any Arab other than Hisham Melhem. I have no objection to your attempt to pass off Mark Perry and Robin Wright as "Hezbollah experts", but at the very least you could have given some air time to a Lebanese voice that does not represent a one-sided, myopic view of Hizbullah as a terrorist organization, hell-bent on destroying Israel and killing Americans, as the program repeatedly asserted.

I honestly thought after meeting you and hearing your intelligent questions, that the program would be balanced, and that it would feature Hizbullah officials as you claimed. I was gravely disappointed. I am afraid I will have to join the ever growing league of disaffected Arab and Lebanese viewers who refuse to watch CNN coverage of this war, because--as one renown Lebanese academic and blogger put it-- "It is bad for one's health."
