A Lebanese industrialist/former minister, George Afram, died. He suffered from Rafiq Hariri's autocracy, which was supported by Syrian intelligence. Once, when Afram refused to sign a corrupt deal for the electric power company, he clashed with Hariri. Hariri dismissed him and replaced him with Eli Hubayqah--the war criminal of the Sabra and Shatila massacres.
