A group of Lebanese and Syrian intellectuals signed a statement about Syrian and Lebanese relations. There are many people who signed that I respect very much. I give the statement itself a B-, but I don't have time to elaborate. I just felt that the statement did not transcend the dominant hegemonic discourse of the political establishment of Lebanon. At least, it did not call Rafiq Hariri "shahid."
