"They say that since the US-led invasion, gays are being killed because of their sexual orientation. They blame the increase in violence on the growing influence of religious figures and militia groups in Iraq since Saddam Hussein was ousted." (Of course, with those stories you raise many questions. One: who is NOT being killed in Iraq, and how do we know that people are being killed or targeted for their sexual orientation since Iraqis (under the rules of "liberation") are being killed right and left and center. Secondly, agian just like about stories on women in faraway lands, why are stories about homophobia in Muslim lands more newsworthy than homephobia right here at home?)
