The Egyptian government blamed all the sectarian clashes on one lone crazy person. AlJazeera reported that some 150 mentally ill Egyptians from around the country were arrested by the government. They will be accused of instigating all the sources of ills in Egypt: support for democracy; oppostion to Mubarak; opposition to Israel; support for Palestinians; support for Arab unity, etc.
