Hummus Will Hit the Fan: The Lebanonese Minister of Ping Pong (also acting Minister of Interior) has ruled that football games in Lebanon shall take place without spectators. The reason is the fear of Sunni-Shi`ite clashes. In a game two weeks ago, Sunnis and Shi`ites clashed and exchanged sectarian insults, and the neighborhoods of At-Tariq Al-Jadidah was a scene of destruction and vandalism. Lebanese newspapers did not report on that. Hariri Inc did not allow it. Wait: but I remember reading Hassan Fattah of NYT and the Washington Post a year ago to the effect that the Lebanese people are united. What gives?
