Feminism in Syria. A group of Syrian feminists have been circulating surveys among the Syrian population on issues relating to gender. Upon learning of their efforts, clerics denounced them from mosques, and one cleric declared the blood of their leader, Nada Al-`Ali, to be "spillable." The feminists ended work on their survey.
