Whenever I speak at communities in the US (or in the Middle East, but more in the US I have to say), I am met by a member of the audience who asks for my opinion on conspiracy theories of Sep. 11. Now, call me naive, but I don't believe that the US government, or its agencies or departments, were behind Sep. 11. I do buy the official account that Muhammad `Ata and his gang, and with the authorization and support of Al-Qa`idah--I heard Bin Laden in one tape brag about it, and Al-Qa`idah's literature constantly refers to it--were responsible for Sep. 11. I don't understand why critics and opponents of the US government have a hard time accepting the official version.
