PS I am not here debating or discussing the status of minorities under Islamic rule. I happen to agree with an assessment that Maxime Rodinson once had given a long time ago, that: under Islamic rule, minorities were not equal, to be sure. But that persecution was rare, but discrimination and humiliation was consistent. This is why the recipe for equality should not seek a return to past Islamic recipe of "tolerance." We should aspire to more than tolerance, everywhere.
