Lebanonese Nationalism versus Syrian nationalism. One of the annoying consequences of the Lebanese-Syrian crisis is the intensification of narrow nationalism in both Lebanon and Syria. Of course, only in Lebanon has this narrow nationalism resulted in the attacks (and murder) against Syrian people, and ugly chauvinistic and racist narrow nationalism has a long history in Lebanonese culture. But in Syria, there are signs of growing Syrian nationalism fueled by state-instigated propaganda, often featuring the singer, `Ali Ad-Dik.
