One of the worst form of upper class activism (which is creeping into the Lebanese right-wing media) is the Al Gore form of environmentalism. The kind of environmentalism that supports wars with glee, but bristles at somebody who does not recycle a bottle or a can. This safe form of activism is akin to the pet projects of first ladies in the US: they are intended to do nothing, while offending nobody.
