"With Flowers and Sweets": So now the Iraqi war enthusiasts have to explain what happened. The Washington Post promoted them when they gave the most fake picture of Iraqi reality before the war (remember it was Makiya who told Bush in the White House that Iraqis would greet US soldiers with "flowers and sweets"--he never went around identifying the sweets that he hand in mind, and whether they were Western or Eastern), and now the Washington Post allows them a platform to make excuses for all the wrong predictions and estimates that they had given about Iraq. (thanks Chris and Mouin). I am told that Makiya was under the (wrong) impression (that he shared with others) that he was "huge in Iraq," that Iraqi people know him and admire him. Ya. That was what Ahmad Chalabi had expected too. Here is my quiz of the day: for how long will Chalabi stay in Iraq once US troops leave the country?
