Charles Ayyub is out of control, but it is fun to watch. At least, now that the Syrian troops are out of Lebanon, the Lebanese people are now able to engage in their small and big fights. And now there is a big fight between Lebanese editor Charles Ayyub and the Head of the Publishers' Syndicate in Lebanon, Muhammad Ba`albaki (there are two press syndicates in Lebanon, one for the publishers and the other for the journalists, although the Journalists' Syndicate is also headed by a publisher, Milhim Karam). For some reason, and you never know what is going on behind the scene with money and shady deals in the Lebanese press, Ayyub has suddenly started launching a bitter campaign against the Kuwaiti royal family. Ba`albaki, the head of the publishers'' syndicate, responded immediately because the head of the two press syndicates are historically on the payroll of Arab oil governments. Ayyub accuses Ba`albaki of being a crude oil mercenary, and being a tool for Sa`d Hariri (not untrue of course although Ayyub had been (reportedly) on the payroll of Rafiq Hariri for a while, and then was funded by Governor of the Central Bank, and later by Al-Walid bin Talal).
