Madawi Al-Rashid is a brave scholar who is critical of the Saudi government. I recommend all her writings on Saudi Arabia. Here, she wrote one of the rare critical pieces on Fahd in the Arabic press. (I like it when she said that "pilgrimage has become a ritual of politics and not of religion."
