This person thinks that he has something to offer to the Bush administration. He wants to "reform" Islam for empire. He then says this: "The function of the clergy in an Islamic democracy is not to rule, but to preserve and, more important, to reflect the morality of the state." There is no such thing as clergy in Islam. There is absolutely no role that `ulama' play in Islam that a Muslim man or woman cannot play on her/his own.
