My friend Husam `Itani (the editoral page editor of As-Safir) has a good article today in which he mocks the claims of the opposition in Lebanon about the non-violence of their movement. He points out that some 11 poor and innocent Syrian workers have been killed in Lebanon since the assassination of Hariri, not to mention that scores of others who have been injured, abused, and robbed. The opposition does not obvioulsy consider the lives of poor Syrian workers to be worthwhile, and the Syrian regime never valued the lives of its citizens to care. I care.
