I cannot think of a more inexperienced and most unwise political leader than the King of Jordan. He is loved in the US because he speaks unaccented English (never mind that he speaks accented Arabic--but he has been receiving private lessons in Arabic and may learn to write his name in Arabic soon). But in English he speaks in cliches. His interviews are mere collections of such American cliches: light at the end of the tunnel; we got to do what we got to do; now is the time; pull yourself by your boot; why cant we all get along; a chiken on the tree is better than a potato in the hand, etc. And (as I have mentioned before) he never EVER gives an interview in English, without having to deny its contents in Arabic. Watch it. He gave an interview to the Washington Post and MSNBC in which he warned of an Iranian conspiracy in Iraq. I give him a few days before he typically offers an Arabic denial of the interview. In English, he sounds like a Republican senator; and in Jordan he sounds like a Muslim cleric. But I find it hilarious that he is asked about what the Palestinians want or seek. They still do not know in the US that the Palestinians detest nobody more (with the exception of Zionism) than they detest the Hashemite royals.
