"Withdrawal from Iraq favored by voters: With 96 percent of precincts counted, city residents were supporting by a 64 percent to 36 percent margin Proposition N, a measure calling on the U.S. government to withdraw troops and all other military personnel from Iraq. The measure was placed on the ballot by Supervisors Tom Ammiano, Chris Daly, Matt Gonzalez and Jake McGoldrick. Supporters of Prop. N cited San Francisco's history of protesting war, while acknowledging that the measure was purely symbolic."
