U.S. wants terrorism convictions quashed:
Embarrassing U-turn hailed as victory by Detroit defendants. (This was the first major terrorism court case brought forward by Justice Department after Sep. 11. I can now tell you this (as I could not speak about it while the court case was on-going): I know something about the case. I served as a consultant for the defense. I read hundreds of pages pertaining to the case, including what was presented as "evidence", and I offered opinions regarding my specialty in ME/Islamic issues. From the very beginning, I became convinced that the defendants are crooks and con artists, but not terrorists. I was very surprised that a terrorism case was being constructed. My familiarity with the case increased my skepticism regarding court cases that you read about.)
