But the article contains this ignorant line that you characteristically see in New York Times: "Lebanon's billionaire prime minister, Rafik Hariri, almost single-handedly rebuilt the shattered downtown in the late 90's with his own company." That is utterly false. Downtown Beirut was constructed with the money of Lebanese taxpayers, and the money of future generation of Lebanese as this billionaire Hariri is most responsible for the accumulation of Lebanon's foreign debt estimated at $40 billion.
