AlJazeera has aired a report about a media visit arranged by the US military in Iraq to the notorious (under Saddam and under Bush) Abu Gharib prison. Journalists were not allowed to take pictures, and the AlJazeera correspondent reported hearing screams of female prisoners who alleged torture. The sight of the hospital section of the prison was also not pleasant, as patients were tightly shackled. The US military also seemed to deflate the actual number of Iraqi prisoners held in Abu Gharib. A propaganda visit turned into a fiasco, it sounds like.
