Racism in Israel

Recently, the Education committee in the Israeli Knesset released the results of a survey among people of Israel.  It revealed that some 20% of Arabs are not ready to have friends with Jews, while 44% of Israeli Jews are unwilling to have friends among Arabs.  And while 36% of Arabs are not willing to visit a Jewish home, 63% of Jews are not willing to visit the home of an Arab.  10% of Israeli Jews are afraid of Arabs, while only 2% of Arabs are afraid of Jews.  28% of Israeli Jews express hatred of Arabs, while 14% of Arabs express hatred of Jews.  46% of Israeli Jewish students (from the ages of 15 and 18) believe that Arabs should not be given the same rights as Jews, and 20% of Jewish students consider the popular Israeli slogan "Death to the Arabs" is a legitimate and acceptable slogan.  

PS The study was covered in Al-Quds Al--Arabi by its correspondent in Nazareth.  Of course, the New York Times was bush writing features about the buff and handsome and charming and fit and charismatic new leader in the Israeli racist Knesset.
