12.5 % of Egyptians are atheists according to a sample of 6000 Egyptians

Percentages of Arab atheists seem to be increasing in many polls. This is one of the undiscussed aspects of the age of Arab uprisings.  Social media have opened avenues for unbelief and skepticism which the mainstream culture and media would not have allowed.  The circulation of atheist works in Arabic is now commonplace.  Here the Mufti of Egypt complains about the spread of atheism.
