The public (deliberate among Zionists) misunderstanding of Nazi attitude toward Zionism stems from the wrong assumption that anti-Semitism and pro-Zionism don't mix. In fact, the rise of Zionism was aided in Western capitals by strong anti-Semitic tendencies (from Balfour among others). But the record is clear. In one speech from 1920, Hitler said: "Jews should seek their human rights in their own state in Palestine, where they belong" (p. 28 in F. Nicosia, The Third Reich and the Palestine Question)
