Who killed more? Asad or ISIS or Nusrah? How to cover Syrian war in US media: lessons for journalism school

First, I don't understand this exercise. We know that all of Asad, ISIS, Nusrah, and Free Syrian Army are killers. What is the purpose of this article except to say: well, maybe we have been unfair to ISIS and maybe we need to go easy on them? is that the thrust of this article?  Also, look at the objective sources of documentation:
Objective source number one: "Syrian Network for Human Rights, a monitoring group based in Britain".
Objective source number two: "International Institute for Strategic Studies".
Objectie source number three: "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, another monitoring group based in Britain."
Objective group number four: a writer in a UAE royal family newspaper.
Objective group number five: HRW.

PS When will someone write that book: "how the Syrian war was covered and miscovered in US media? Propaganda versus reality."
