Garrick Utley died: a model foreign correspondent

I should not always generalize. The US has had its share of (rare) model foreign correspondents.  Utley was one of those.  His coverage of world events was exemplary and I can't think of one US foreign correspondent like him today.  This is a man who was fluent in French and German and his reports from foreign countries were not your typical, ignorant, sensational stories that you associate with US foreign coverage.  I liked and respected Utley and my condolences to his widow.
