Western lovers of the Syrian people

Those in the West (in government, media, and academia) who are posing as lovers of the Syrian people: how come your love for the Syrian people did not show before this year? I mean, the Syrian people have been suffering from this dictatorship since 1970 and I have not heard a whisper from any of you about the Syrian people?  Who are you fooling, really?
