I watched that Republican debate yesterday--although American debates are never debates per se like in French politics (a debate like we last saw in Paris could not take place here). Politics is too scripted in the US to make room for debates. But you watch the Republican contenders and you feel that some of them are good: no, I am serious. Some of them would have been good and effective aides to Himmler, for example. Take Tom Tancredo of Colorado, for example. I can see him complaining that Himmler is too moderate. Some of them you can see in another period of history: many would feel right at home in a medieval city: you can easily see them chasing heathens and witches, and calling for them to be set on fire.
