I saw an interview with Egyptian foreign minister on Al-Arabiya TV. The interviewer (the fine Cairo correspondent--her name escapes me now) asked me as to why the Egyptian government supports a plan (Bush's surge Plan) that is widely criticized here in the US. He said that it is due to the love exhibited by the Egyptian government for the Iraqi people, or words to that effect. He did not tell viewers about the love between Mubarak and Saddam for much of the 1980s. He only got critical of the US when she asked him about human rights. "Let them look at their own record", he said.
