Arab neo-conservative columnists now make their columns available in English for appreciation by American neo-conservatives. In one week, Thomas Friedman paid tribute to Salamah Ni`mat of Al-Hayat and `Abdur-Rahman Ar-Rashid of Al-Arabiyya. What do these people write to deserve the praise and appreciation? Well, they mostly rehash Orientalist cliches (but without the rigor, knowledge, and erudition of the classical Orientalists) about the inferiority of Arabs/Muslims. Western master race advocates like it when the natives advocate their own inferiority.
