After one talk in the southern suburbs of Beirut during my recent trip, a man (who is 74 he later told me) from Shiyyah was talking to me. He heard that I like to run. He said that during the war, (his neighborhood was major battle ground) he was adversely affected by the war and the deaths around him. He tried alcohol, tranquilizers, "and other things," as he told me. And then one day, he discovered running. Ever since, he runs bare footed on the sand: more than 10 miles each day.
