Not in the Western media: crimes and thuggery of Syrian exile opposition

In the West, Syrian diplomats were arrested and deported for "looking" at anti-regime demonstrators.  But the thuggery by Syrian exile opposition are never prosecuted or even reported in the press.  I don't like the Syrian actress, Raghda: she is obnoxious and a vulgar Arab nationalist who praises Saddam and Bashshar.  But the other day, she was delivering poetry in Cairo (she is a lousy poet, by the way), and a group of Syrian opposition goons beat her up before a live audience.  Did you find anything about that in the Western press?  Her father (in his 90s and afflicted with Alzheimer) has been kidnapped by Free Syrian Army criminals and tortured to denounce his daughter in videos).

From Uffe in Stockholm:  "An ambulance in Sweden refused to take a injured 16 year old refugee to the hospital.
The 16 year old had been denied residence to stay in Sweden. In a desperate move he threatened to jump from the 6:th floor. Police tried to talk him out of it.

Meanwhile personnel from the ambulance said: "Let him jump, he is only a refugee."
This shocked the police and others. Even worse, after he had jumped, the ambulance refused to take him to the hospital. The police had to take him to the hospital.

In Sweden racist bullshit appears more and more frequently as Sverigedemokraterna (The swedish democrats. A racist party with, believe it or not, a nazibackground) gets bigger and bigger in the polls. Its now the third biggest party.

The fascinating thing about that party is that it recently have had a big number of members involved in different kind of scandals, regarding racism, crime, sexism, nazibackgrounds and violence. But it doesnt effect them at all in the polls. Quite the opposite. Its the party of the Lernaean Hydra. But isnt that why racism is so hard to fight? Its not about rational arguments, facts or empathy. Its about fear and hatred.

But racism doesnt stop there.

The swedish minister of migration, member of the conservative party, is in deep shit as he in an interview, which he hade time to prepare for, said that: "People that hide refugees are not nice blond and blueyed old ladies but rather fellow countryman that are not blond."

On the other hand: One could say that it is a good sign that he is in deep shit for saying a stupid thing like that. And back to that first hand again: that means it can get even worse."

Let them kill each other in Syria?

What a silly statement, Turkish government calls Syrians as "guests" for ignoring their "refugee" status and their international rights. He should visit the cotton farms or textile factories to see how his people are turned into source of cheap labor and working without any social rights! "

The Death of Al-Buti and the clash of the two (Sunni) Islams in Syria

There is no way that the Syrian armed groups can be blamed in the New York Times or the Western press for any crime.  Western media submissively recycle the propaganda statements of the armed groups: they deny their own actions when a large number of civilians are killed, and they repeat their lies when they blame their own crimes on the regime itself.  Unfailingly, whenever the armed groups perpetrate a car bomb or a massacre of civilians, the New York Times would come out with a citation like this one (about the car bomb that killed a large number of civilians inside a mosque):  "Some Syrian fighters and anti-Assad activists reached by telephone said they would not be surprised if the government were responsible for the mosque explosion. “I expect the regime to be involved in this assassination,” said Abu Tamam, a member of an insurgent group called the Jundilla Battalion. “He is just a religious figure and not a state figure. He used to have influence, but today he’s an extra burden on the regime.”"  So Abu Tamam was cited although he had no evidence and made not even an accusation, but simply said that "he won't be surprised".  What kind of journalism is this?  Would the New York Times ever cite a Palestinian saying that he/she would not be surprised if Israel was behind an act of violence perpetrated by a Palestinian armed group?  But the death of Buti marks a watershed in a war within Islam in Syria.  There are two Islams in Syria: there is the Salafite, Jihadi, Bin Ladenite Islam which is aligned with Qatar and Saudi Arabia and now receives support from US and EU and GCC countries.  And then there is another Islam represented by the Mufti of Syria and Muhammad Sa`id Al-Buti (by the way, papers did not indicate that scores of civilians were killed with him including his own grandson--some Western media made it sound like he was assassinated with a sniper bullet and not a massive car bomb at a mosque in a civilian neighborhood) which is--to be sure--aligned with the regime but proposes a more enlightened, progressive and less sexist and less obscurantist Islam.  I don't want any role for clerics, personally, and both version of Islam are aligned with tyrannical regimes, but you decide which of the two (versions of Sunni) Islam is better for Syria.  Al-Buti studied in Al-Azhar during the Nasser era when the institution was most progressive and reformist and he carried such ideas back into Syria against a fanatic Salafite trend always existed in Syria and embraced by the Muslim Brotherhood and its GCC sponsors.  In nutshell, this is not the first time that the US and EU align themselves with the fanatical, Jihadi, and reactionary Islam.  But I have seen this film before and did not like the ending and will like the ending of the second film even less.  Brace yourselves.

LBC Poll

So the LBC Station (a right-wing Lebanese sectarian Christian station with large viewership in Lebanon especially among Christians) conducted an on-line poll through its widely watch news show, Kalam An-Nas.  The question was: O Lebanese, who scares you more: 1) the arms of Hizbullah or 2) Salafite movements?  3) both.  The answer (as seen above) was: 6.3% said the arms of Hizbullah while 93.3% said that are more scared of Salafite movements.  0.4% said that they are scared of both.  (thanks Zeina)

More than 60 Israeli laws discriminate against Palestinians

"The Legal Centre for Arab Minority Rights in Israel (Adalah) has revealed that the Israeli authorities have drafted more than 60 laws which discriminate against their Palestinian citizens. The laws cover areas such as education, the national budget, public services, civil rights and even prisons and prisoners.
"Some of these laws also violate the rights of Palestinians in the occupied territories and Palestinian refugees," said the Adala website."

"Robert Ford the U.S. ambassador to Syria spoke about Ghassan Hitto’s connection to the Muslim Brotherhood at a House Foreign Affairs on Wednesday. Syrian-born US Citizen Hitto is the new head of Syrian opposition’s interim government.

“He struck me as more Texan than Muslim Brotherhood,” Ford said. “I don’t know what his political affiliations are, but I do know that he also has a tolerant vision of Syrian society. He is not a religious extremist, far from it.”

Shahin said the al-Assad government will try to associate Hitto with the Brotherhood. But Hitto is merely involved with the Muslim community and is American, with all that means, he said.

Hitto will carry with him American values of liberty, justice and merit that transcend tribal and ethnic identity, Shahin said. He is hoping that Hitto’s American citizenship will help forge a close relationship with the United States." (thanks Don)

closing bank accounts of Arab-Americans in Michigan

"A Dearborn-based Arab-American advocacy group is asking the federal government to investigate banks in southeastern Michigan for closing accounts of community members.
The Arab-American Civil Rights League said it sent a letter to the U.S. Attorney General's Office on March 18 after learning of more than a dozen closures in the past month.
"Over the past several weeks the ACRL has received an unprecedented number of complaints from community members who have had their bank accounts closed, for no apparent reason, by their banking institutions," Rana Abbas, executive director of the ACRL said. "Most of these complaints are from successful professionals or business owners, who have banked with the same institution for years."

As a non-Arab, dignity plays no importance in my life. It is of no use to me. People can spit on me or throw their shoes at me, I don't care. Ignatius helpfully reminds us that, "from Palestine to Benghazi, people who are penniless in terms of material possessions would rather die than lose their sense of honor to outsiders." Syrian regime has fallen

Obama's eternal friendship with Israel

So Obama has declared an American "eternal friendship" with Israel (just as George W. Bush had declared an "eternal friendship" with the Saudi government).  Does that mean that the US will stand with Israel even after it goes down?

Kuwait approves segregation of medical care

"Kuwait’s Health Ministry has reportedly approved a proposal to designate specific hours of the day that nationals and expatriates can access medical attention.
Under the change, Kuwaitis will be given priority for medical checkups at public hospitals and clinics during the morning, with foreigners only able to access doctors in the afternoon, unless it is an emergency.
Staff also will be segregated according to their nationality, with Kuwaitis working in the morning and expat doctors in the afternoon.

There is has been an undeclared and declared war on `Alawites in North Lebanon.  Not a single human rights organization has uttered a word about that.  There have been Kristallnachts the city of Tripoli and no Western or Arab media have written about that.  I will be writing an article soon: J'accuse.
