Journalistic standards of the NYT

"The report — produced by a panel of investigators led by an internationally respected jurist, Richard Goldstone — found extensive evidence that both Israel and Palestinian militant groups took actions amounting to war crimes during the Gaza war last winter. Israel says that it acted only to halt missile fire from Gaza that terrorized Israeli civilians." This is standard practice of the New York Times. If there is a reference to Israel, Israel is always given the last word: the chance to respond to accusations. And notice in this passage, it says that the report found evidence that both sides (Hamas and Israel) took actions that amounted to war crimes, but the New York Times only bothered to cite Israel's response. In basic journalism 101, Hamas would also be given a chance to respond, and I am sure that a Hamas official could be found to respond.
