Look at this headline and this story in the Times: "Turkey and Syria Signal Improved
Relations." Improved relations? This is a story of improved relations? The writer and editor has to be so ill-informed to treat this important story as a case of "improved relations." The relations have been improved years ago: this is a story of the elevation in the already close relations between the two countries. And the Minister of Defense of Syria yesterday announced that his country will hold joint military maneuvers with Turkey. This is far more than "improved relations."
