Spy welcomed by US Congress and major figures

Members of the US Congress take the issue of a convicted spy who--in return for money and goodies--sold secrets to Israel and tried to flee the capital to the Israeli embassy.  Can you imagine if he was a spy for, Iran, say? Would any the head of any American Muslim organization dare to visit him and take up his "cause"?  (See the statement by Seymour Reich in the article).
