My story with this American reporter

About this reporter. Shortly after Sep. 11, when the climate toward Arabs in the US was suffocating and quite fascistic, I agreed to appear on MSNBC to speak about Sep. 11 and the war on Afghanistan. I was talking and mentioned the civilian casualties in Afghanistan and that this issue while not receiving mention in the US, is certainly causing outrage in other parts of the world. He said to me (live on the air): you awfully sound like Bin Laden. I could not believe it. In the climate of the US at the time, when a Sikh American was murdered just because he was suspected of being Arab (not far from my home), such an accusation could have gotten me killed. I said to him: it seems that your comprehension skills are very low, let me repeat what I said to you in slow and more simple English so that you may understand this time. I barely said a sentence, when he cut me off and I was taken off the air.
