Look at the headline of the New York Times yesterday: it is the same headline as the Washington Post. Do you see why I tell you that in effect the two papers serve as government newspapers like Tishrin or Riyadh but with more comics? Also, if the Afghan people are so keen on "defying the Taliban" why do Western powers insist that they can't end the occupation because the Taliban would take over the country again? If the people wish to defy the Taliban, why not let them defy them on their own? And if the Taliban movement is growing, how is it growing when you have been reporting for ten years that the Afghans are "defying the Taliban". Finally, the New York Times today reports that the elections in Afghanistan was free and honest but I remember in the last fraudulent election for president the Times carried the same assessment before reversing itself ten days later.
