Angry Arab chief correspondent on Bahrain sent me this (her name would not be revealed, of course): "Its hunger strike week in
Bahrain. People are desperate and running out of options. 20 of the jailed
doctors are now on a hunger strike. Their condition has deteriorated and some
are clinically depressed. In addition one doctor has cerebral aneurism, one has
diabetes and yet another has severe injuries from torture. Detained human
rights activists Abdul Jalil AlSingace and AbdulHadi AlKhawaja are also on a
hunger strike. AlKhawajas daughter, Zainab AlKhawaja is saying that her father
is extremely weak. The two sons of jailed Bahraini doctor Ghassan Dhaif (who's
health condition has deteriorated) are also on a hunger strike as are the two
daughters of jailed Bahrain doctor Hassan Tublani. Some doctors are
participating in the hunger strike in solidarity with their detained
collegues."
