The field in question is believed to contain 450 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which would cover Israel's needs for 90 years. No wonder then that Israeli officials issued a pre-emptive threat, vowing to use force to protect its gas reserves. Surprisingly, not one Arab organisation showed the slightest interest. It was only Hizbollah that warned about Israel's transgression on Lebanese waters, supported by the chairman of the Lebanese parliament who was the only Arab official to question whether this new discovery was in Lebanese waters."
