The lies of Michael Oren
The professional liar and one-sided historian, Michael Oren (who in his book on US involvement with the Middle East basically claimed that all the American "founding fathers" were likudniks) is at it again trying to lie about the career of `Assaf Bou Rahhal: the correspondent of the leftist Beirut daily, Al-Akhbar (where I write my weekly column). Rahhal as is known was shot by Israeli occupation troops in South Lebanon. Yesterday, during my book signing, I asked comrade Sa`dallah Mazra`ani (deputy secretary-general of the Lebanese Communist Party) about Bou Rahhal and whether he knew him. He said: of course. I have known him for more than 30 years. He has been a life-long communist. Israeli propaganda can turn a (Christian by birth) a communist into a Shi`ite Islamic fundamentalist. But let us pursue it one step further: when Oren says, or lies, that he is a correspondent for Al-Manar, is he saying to US media that Israeli justifies the murder of the women and men who work for Al-Manar? Does that mean that Israel believes that Hizbullah is justified in targeting Israeli state journalists? Michael Oren: we knew he is a liar. We have known that a long time ago. But we did not know that he is such a bad liar.
